Short-Term Memory - Effect Of Excess LP

Synth wave band out of Kansas. Can't find any info.
Prior to this album, the band released 2 cassette albums: 'Every Head Needs Cleansing' and 'Lost In Gundam'. After the LP came the 'Guilty Pleasure' EP released in 1985.
All their output was released on their own Silly Poodle Music label with the help of local Kansas label Fresh Sounds Inc. (Mortal Micronotz, The Embarrasment,...).
They appear on a few compilations as well like 'The History Of Jazz' tape, 'On-Slaught No. 4' tape and 'SNX' 4xLP.
Found a MySpace page for ex-member Jim Skeel who is still busy making music.

Effect Of Excess LP (Silly Poodle Music/Fresh Sounds Inc.-FS 209-1984)
1. I Don't Care
2. Hungry Dogs (Run Fast)
3. I Think I'm Losing My Mind
4. Take Your Place
5. Out East
6. Banzai!
7. Effect Of Excess
8. Freedom
9. Page 64
10. Lullabye (Happy Industry IV)

I drove through Kansas before. It is a long boreing drive with not much of anything to keep you awake. This album has made me re-think the place. I liked it alot. If this came from that state, then it can't be all that bad.

Yeah, great blog!!!

Luis from Barcelona, Spain, here.

I arrived to the blog looking for info about a band so strange as Five or Six.

Will see here on the future, there's plenty of interesting material.

BTW, if you want to check out some music you'll like, lost songs from the 80s, meet me at

Do not to let this one elude you. It takes two or more "spins" to grow on you. But it is worth the effort, there is so much detail and a lot of fine subtle melodies that at first may sound boring but keep getting better with each listen. (There is two obtrusive tracks that I do not like, Take Your Place and I Don't Care.) Thank you, Curious Guy, for sharing this gem! Has anyone that other stuff by them?

Yes I agree that there are some lesser tracks on this one, especially on the 2nd side. Hope to see the other stuff but I think the tapes will be hard to get.
Oh yeah, happy holidays to everyone!
