The Three Johns

The Three Johns started as a side-group to the Mekons, the other band of Jon Langford. Together with two other 'Johns' and a drum machine, the band created some great post punk. They mixed their socialist ideas and anti-Thatcher rants with a good sense of humour.
For more info on The Three Johns, visit the fansite here.
Here are the first records of the band. The 'Some History' 12" contains both first 7"s originally released on CNT.

Some History 12" (Abstract Records-12ABS 022-1982/83)
1. English White Boy Engineer
2. Secret Agent
3. Pink Headed Bug
4. Lucy In The Rain

Men Like Monkeys 12" (CNT Records-CNT013-1983)
1. Men Like Monkeys
2. Two Minute Ape!
3. Windolene
4. Marx's Wife
5. Paris 1941

A.W.O.L. 12" (Abstract Records-ABS12 019-1983)
1. A.W.O.L.
2. Rooster Blue
3. Image Or An Animal
4. Kick The Dog Right Out

Note: tracks 3 & 4 of the A.W.O.L. 12" ripped as one track.

Hey people,
there's nothing wrong with the link. I just tried. Sometimes Quicksharing is a pain in the ass. The server is probably too busy. Just try another moment of the day(preferably around 21.00 continental time).
Yes, I have the 'Atom Drum Bop' LP. Still need to rip it. I already ripped some more 12"s of The Three Johns.
Stay tuned!
PS: let me know if it worked,OK?

Great stuff. I saw the band quite a few times in their heyday, often in tandem with the equally wonderful Membranes. I was lucky enough to interview the band a couple of times for local radio - they were nice blokes too.

Have a look at some photos I shot when they supported Redskins in '84

Amazing! I love The Three Johns but all I have is vinyl. Thank you so much. I think Jon Langford is a genius. I own 2 of his paintings!

Pure bliss - haven't heard Pink Headed Bug in years. Don't suppose you've got Do The Square Thing / Death Of The European / Brainbox.....? Lost gems one and all

Yep, ripped those three 12"s already. Will post them some time soon.

Great to have the old stuff made available again. Any chance of doing the World By Storm album? BTW, if anyone's interested I did a big blog on my dealings with the Three Johns in the 80s on MySpace -http://www.myspace.com/119375318. Fans might enjoy it. Do 'view all blog entries' because it's down the bottom.

New HQ rips for all of the The Three Johns 12"s.

To celebrate the fact that my blog post on the Three Johns has had its first comment after nearly four years I've decided to share the URL with somebody. Here it is - http://toofattolive.blogspot.com/2007/11/rum-and-thunder-logbook.html
Go on, have a look - you'll be glad you did. That first comment, by the way, was from me - you should be grateful that I've made you feel better about yourselves by being so sad and at least look at the post out of pity. Go on.

Stevie M, well hey, that's good reading indeed. I was prepared to make the first proper comment to it, alas, I'm a wordpress user and didn't get the chance. So here it is, then...

Thanks fairtradekookboek - that was a comment worth waiting for. Glad you enjoyed it.

Hello. Curious Guy, I've got a CNT hint/wish: two early singles by Redskins, but don't know where to ask. Got 'em? Would be very nice to listen to high quality vinyl rip. Thanks for everything so far. You keep 1980s underground Britain alive.

Hi D. thanks for the appreciation. Unfortunately I don't own the Redskins singles you want to hear.
