Flue - One And A Half LP

Here's the first album of Dutch band Flue. Has been reissued on CD with extra tracks but in a ridiculously small quantity. Together with Mecano, one of the bands that rose from the Ultra movement.
'Jerome' also released as a 7" with a non-LP track 'Ugly People' on the B side (also on the CD version). Seems like it's a song about the bassplayer in which it states he has six fingers on one of his hands. The title track is a 10 minutes improvisation that has some kind of prog feel.
Produced by Dick Polak of Mecano.

One And A Half LP (Torso Records-Torso 336-1981)
1. Fancy Free
2. The Nose
3. Fridged
4. Jerome
5. Age A Wage
6. Feminine
7. Small Gods
8. One And A Half

CD is available again on Mecano's Mutant Jasz label.

sorry to leave an unrelated comment here, but I was wondering if you'd encountered any recordings by the band Bartok (not to be confused with the composer, lol)... I have an old 12" of theirs but am vinyl-impaired at the moment... I would love to get hold of digital copies of their material and have been searching the web far and wide... thought this might be a good place to ask since the band would fit in well with your posts.

great blog by the way! DL'ed plenty of stuff to keep me busy. nice to see another fan of The Veil too!

Hello Kevin, found the Bartok 12" on Wiel's Time Capsule (see sidebar). Check the January archives. The mediafire link works. Hope this helps.

Ha ha ha, I'm working nights this week and the "Complete Workz" [sic] playing in the speakers is making it very pleasant indeed.

I simply love the Mob 47 cover - with the fake Swedish-accents!!! But then some of the later English tracks sound like they are sung in Swedish...

P.J.D = A very underrated 1990s crustband, up there with Doom, Hiatus et all. That's a serious statement rigth there.

Hows tricks by the way?

:)

There's no active link at the moment for the "One and a half" lp by Flue. Can this be mended in any way?
Congratulations on your great blog

hi, never knew there was a "first"album by flue, always thought there was just one (vista). Can't wait to hear this one. I listened to Vista all my childhood and i can't deny it influenced the music i'm making in a way. thanx.
I thought it was cor bolten; he made music for the dutch tv series "12 steden, 13 ongelukken" (12 towns, 13 accidents). Maybe you knew that allready.

One of my "secret" all-time favourites which hardly anyone knew back then. Not everything is brilliant here, but I love the synth sounds, the singing and the overall feel. Especially Small Gods is good. And then came their outstanding second album ... Thanks for sharing.

Hello Curious Guy, any chance you can upload a link for this album? I think Mutant Jasz is no longer offering the reissue. OOP it is, i think. Thanks for you help and your blog and your write ups
