Quel Dommage - Bright Lights 7"

And here's another interesting record on Xcentric Noise. Quel Dommage were another postpunk/goth band from the Hull area like Luddites, Cold Dance and Punctured Tough Guy. The guy who ran the label also played guitar in the band.
The rip is a bit of a crackling affair, especially in the beginning of each side. Record is pretty old and I think cheap vinyl was used.

Bright Lights 7" (Xcentric Noise-SEVENTH 1-1984)
1. Bright Lights
2. Music For Serious And Solemn Occasions (A Song Of Thankfulness And Praise)
3. Amendment

My copy is similar to as you describe ... lots of crackle at the beginning on both sides, even though it appears relatively unplayed. Weird as the other ones you mention play well, and are definitely better pressings.

Good to know. Seems a lot of lower quality vinyl was used back in the day. It was cheaper but after a few spins the records start to wear off.

I have a rip of this one. Very similar to Joy Division. Do you know if they ever did anything else?

Fernando, didn't know you already posted this one. Sorry for that.
Remind Me To The Smile, don't think they released anything else. Maybe some demo recordings?

They were pressed at Mayking Records in London, like many at the time , just normal quality vinyl pressing plant, the crackling i think was just due to the length of the music on each side. Too long for 7" really,, so the grooves are more compressed and smaller , hence quieter and more crackly , especially on the B side :-/
