Nervous Choir - 7" & MLP

Here's the almost complete discography of this Scottish goth band. They were from Aberdeen to be more precisely.
Can't find any info on the net about Nervous Choir and the records don't have release dates but they were active in the 2nd half of the 80's.
The 'Alsations' 7" was released on Cathexis (see Vazz) and the '1060 Hold Everything' released by the band itself.
A side of the 7" has two 8-track recordings, the B side has a stereo cassette recording and the last track is live.
They also appear on the 'Dreams And Desires' comp. tape on Pleasantly Surprised. Their contribution is the song 'Richard Killing'.

Alsations 7"
(Cathexis Recordings-CRN 5407-198?)
1. Alsations
2. Introducing
3. O' David
4. Tonight We Start On Witches

1060 Hold Everything MLP (Choir Cuts-NCC12.1-198?)
1. Al Johnson
2. The Privilege
3. The Quarry
4. Trash Trash Trash
5. She Crept Out
6. Daddy Says
7. Dada Version

Note: tracks 6 & 7 ripped as one track. Track 7 is a remixed version of track 6.

I can't thank you enough! I have these on vinyl, but no turntable anymore, so it's years since I listened to them. I also have the 'Dreams and Desires' compilation on cassette to which they contributed an early track ('Richard Killing').

I searched for info on Nervous Choir some while ago but there's very little to find: they were apparently a brilliant live band - there may also have been a live cassette - and they later changed their name to The Ramjet Rubber Company. There's a mention to the latter in a playlist with a track called 'Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend'. According to a guy called Jimsin "there was always some sort of drama / sex / violence at their gigs."

Sorry, repeated some of your information there - was so excited about the music I forgot to read your post properly! :o)

Exelent post....

n-rich, done with pleasure and thanks for the extra info. You don't have a turntable anymore so does that mean you don't have a cassette deck as well? Would like to hear that comp. tape.

V.,
Got something very cool ib the post this weekend...

On Look Back in Anger, you look for the 7". Does that mean you have the MLP? Have been looking for that 7" and also a Cassette "Foxhunt" (Stick It in Your Ear, 1982) which I've only seen mentioned once on the internet.

Hi,
My boyfriend's dad was in this band. He unfortunately died 7 years ago and I would really like to get a copy of their music, or possibly a poster for my boyfriend. Do you know where I would be able to find anything?

Hello there, sad to read this. I found the NC records on eBay for not alot of money (the 7" is a bit harder to find). Hope you can score them to give them to your boyfriend.

hands down the best music blog i've ever seen. kudos to you, sir.

don't suppose i can make a request? i'm obsessed with a 7" on subterranean i scored years ago. band is called "pre fix". sounds like a spazzier, punkier savage republic. i've heard rumors of demo tapes, practice tapes.

you seem like the kind of fellow who might be able to help me out.

Never heard Pre Fix before but sounds interesting. Maybe someone else who reads this is willing to help out.
And thanks for the appreciation.

Kevan, use the search function in the upper left corner. You'll find the 12" and LP of Struggler. Both 7"s can be found on No Longer Forgotten Music (see sidebar).

Thanks for the great post - the 1st song "Alsations" is onethe most addictive songs I'd ever heard! (It reminds me the Bela Lugosi song of the Bauhaus - anyhow, I prefer the NC song in this days..:)

What an absolute star Les is, posting up a freely downloadable CD's worth of unreleased Nervous Choir material on last.fm (direct link). Respect!

And - if you're reading this Les - yes we can suffer it, so please keep it coming!

Nervous Choir
Theres a batch of cassettes and 4 track demos i have to get round to uploading 4 free. The band is long gone so are the go go dancers, the painted backdrops and the big metal barrel. Ive still got some of the original gig posters kicking about, along with the original band and demo from 1982 which was aired on local radio weeks before we ever played live and the ticket for the club (first band to ticket a gig for such a small club). THERES ALSO THE 45 BOTH SHOT ON SUPER * and transfered to studiovideo and a couple of live vids too
Im currently designing/designed CD sleeves IGGY T.REX BOWIES ASTRONETTES
